John joined Acorn Community Care in 2018 and quickly became a key figure in the charity’s growth and evolution. With nearly two decades of experience in social care across a variety of settings — including charities, supported living, and regulatory environments — John combines sharp operational oversight with a hands-on approach that keeps people at the heart of every decision.

As Head of Operations, John plays a vital role in making sure the charity not only runs smoothly but also keeps improving. From service design to staff structures, from compliance to crisis response — John is involved in shaping every part of the organisation’s future. He’s known for his high expectations, his clear communication style, and his ability to see problems coming before they land.

But what matters most to John is people. He often says that every family placing trust in Acorn deserves a service that would be good enough for his own loved ones. This principle drives the standards he sets, the conversations he leads, and the culture he helps to protect. He has been instrumental in developing new services, embedding value-based recruitment, and strengthening the charity’s relationships with commissioners and professionals across the region.
