Joanne Harrison
Service Manager
Joanne has been part of Acorn Community Care since 2017, with an earlier chapter between 2011 and 2014. She now oversees the day-to-day running of two of our supported living services, ensuring people receive high-quality, consistent, and meaningful support.
Her career in health and social care began back in 1993, giving her over three decades of frontline and managerial experience across residential respite services and SEN education. This wide-ranging background gives Joanne a strong sense of what great care looks like — and a sharp eye for what people need to thrive.
Joanne is deeply committed to making sure people are not just safe, but supported to live a full life on their own terms. She brings a proactive, people-first approach to her role — whether that’s helping someone build confidence in a new home, guiding a support worker to recognise their strengths, or making sure families feel involved and reassured.
She’s also a big believer in team spirit and shared purpose. Joanne thrives on connection — with staff, families and the people we support. She sees every interaction as an opportunity to build trust, and every challenge as a chance to improve. Her blend of empathy and humour makes her both approachable and dependable.
Outside of work, Joanne values her time with family and friends — and if you’re lucky enough to catch her in conversation, you’ll quickly see the same warmth, honesty and care she brings to her professional life every day.
