Our Supporters
Carolyn Storr (Trustee) and Ruth Holliday Friends of Acorn organiser are Acorns’ chief fundraisers since 2020.
Since that time between them have raised over £3000 for Acorn which has been used to fund events such as Christmas parties; Halloween discos, extra activities and most recently a weighted chair purchased from Berry Medical who gave the charity an extra 25 % discount.
This chair will be used to ensure that we can accurately & comfortably weigh the people we support who have physical and learning difficulties as part of their weight management support sessions. It is already having a positive effect!

One of our Biggest supporters is Morrisons. Morrisons donate throughout the year (even during the covid pandemic) to Acorn via their Community Champion program.
This Easter, Carolyn and Ruth Holliday organised an Easter cake ‘Bake off’ competition asking ‘Friends of Acorn’ to submit entries for them to judge. Two of the Trustees – Steve and Toby collected the ingredients that had been donated by our local Morrisons in Malton.
Also deserving a special mention is the ladies’ section of the Malton and Norton golf club. Their fundraising efforts in 2021 raised a whopping £950 for Acorn community care. The funds went toward funding our care software for the next year.
Last but not least we are also very thankful for our team of volunteers who work tirelessly on the farm assisting the people we support to enjoy looking after the animals and growing an abundance of produce in our polytunnel and raised beds.
Nominated Charity
RMS Pump Tools are another local business who have offered practical help to Acorn by making us their nominated charity.
Last September a huge team from RMS (including the MD and his wife), came on-site for the day and transformed the pond area of the farm – a bit like a garden SOS.
Within one day the RMS team along with Acorn staff and the people we support managed to create an oasis of calm and tranquility from basically a rather smelly pond ! Not only did they supply the people power, but they also brought all the catering supplies! It was an amazing day for everyone and Acorn Community Care and the people we support cannot thank RMS enough for the sheer hard work and enthusiasm they brought to us during that day. See the before and after photos below…….
Already plans are in place for RMS to assist us with another transformation project so watch this space.
If you’d like to propose us as a potential nominated charity for your organisation, we’d be delighted to hear from you. You can contact us here or by phoning us on 01653 699922.
Moving forward we are planning a number of events to help raise vital funds for the charity. Please keep checking our calendar for all our upcoming events.
