After a sell out gig last year, we are very excited to announce that the fantastic New York Brass Band are going to play again for us at our fundraising event on 15th November 2024. They will be supported again by The Ryedale Stray Notes, a brilliant local 25 piece band packed full of talented young musicians. NYBB are a New Orleans inspired brass band and have played all over the world. They have played at Glastonbury for the last 8 years, and celebrity parties and weddings for Danny Jones McFly, Pixie Lot, Ellie Goulding, comedian Alex Brooker, Liam Gallagher, Joe Jordan, Gordon McQueen and Jamie Oliver.
The band is a powerhouse 7/8-piece, with a line-up of percussion, sax, trumpets, trombones, guitar and sousaphone. Hailing from the ancient streets of York, the band was formed by James Lancaster in 2010 and the are at the forefront of a funky brass revolution that is sweeping the UK. Inspired by Rebirth Brass Band, Soul Rebels, Hot 8, Youngblood and Brassroots, NYBB pack a powerful punch of relentless drums, rumbling tuba and wailing horns… nothing kicks a party into gear like the sound of a smokin’ New Orleans Mardi Gras Jazz Band
